A guide to Buddy’s full menu
Buddy’s Bagels is a New York-style bagel shop in Sarasota with two locations, on Cattlemen Road and South Tamiami Trail. The menu covers fresh-baked bagels, house-made cream cheese spreads, breakfast sandwiches, New York deli lunches, sides, sweets, and coffee. Both shops are open daily from 7 AM to 2 PM, and you can order ahead online for pickup.
There is a moment every regular knows. You walk in, the baskets are full of freshly made bagels, and you have about ten seconds to decide what you want before it is your turn. This guide is here to make those ten seconds easier.
What kinds of bagels does Buddy’s have?
The bagel wall is where every order starts. Each one is baked fresh in the morning, with a golden crust and a chewy center that holds up to a thick schmear or a stacked sandwich.
- The classics: Plain, Everything, Sesame, Poppy, Salt, Onion, Garlic, and Egg
- Hearty grains: Whole Wheat, Multigrain, Rye, and Pumpernickel
- A little sweet: Cinnamon Raisin and Blueberry
- Bold and cheesy: Asiago, Jalapeño, and Spinach Swiss
- Something different: the Bialy, a soft roll with no hole and a center of roasted onions
For a crowd, there is a half dozen, a baker’s dozen of 13, or a Buddy’s Bagel Box with 13 flavored bagels and 2 tubs of cream cheese. Croissants, Kaiser rolls, and marble rye are also baked for sandwiches.
Which cream cheese spreads can you choose from?
A good bagel deserves a good spread, and every one at Buddy’s is made fresh.
- Plain: the classic, and the one most people grew up on
- Scallion: bright and savory, a natural match for Everything or Onion
- Veggie: cream cheese blended with fresh vegetables and herbs
- Garlic Herb: rich, with roasted garlic
- Jalapeño: a little heat for anyone who likes it
- Honey Walnut: sweet and crunchy, lovely on Cinnamon Raisin
- Green Olive: tangy and a bit unexpected
- Lox Spread: smoked salmon blended right in
- Sun Dried Tomato: sweet, savory, and full of Mediterranean flavor
Want some at home? Every spread comes in a quarter pound or half pound container. Not in a cream cheese mood? A bagel with butter, butter and cinnamon sugar, or peanut butter, jelly, or honey is always an option.
What should you order for breakfast?

Breakfast sandwiches come on the bagel of your choice, which means a Taylor Ham, Egg & Cheese on Everything is a completely different sandwich than the same one on Pumpernickel. Half the fun is finding your combination.
- The Brooklyn Tradition: sausage, bacon, or ham with an egg and American cheese
- Double Brooklyn: two meats, an egg over hard, and American cheese
- Taylor Ham, Egg & Cheese: the Jersey classic, for anyone who knows
- Steak, Egg & Cheese: tender steak, egg, and melted American cheese
- Kielbasa, Egg & Cheese: hearty and full of flavor
- Western Bagel: eggs, ham, peppers, onions, and melted cheese
- Egg on a Bagel: simple, quick, and always right
- Chorizo Breakfast Burrito: chorizo, potatoes, peppers, onions, and scrambled eggs, with hot sauce and homemade salsa
- The New Yorker Plate: sausage, bacon, or ham with 2 eggs, home fries, and a bagel
For something heartier, The New Yorker Bagel gives you everything from the plate on a bagel: your choice of sausage, bacon, ham, or turkey with 2 eggs and American cheese.
What are the best deli sandwiches for lunch?
By late morning, the deli counter takes over. These are the sandwiches people drive across town for.
- Lower East Side Reuben: lean corned beef, melted Swiss, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island dressing
- The Carnegie Deli: pastrami stacked high with Swiss and spicy brown mustard
- Empire State Corned Beef: a towering stack of corned beef with Swiss and spicy brown mustard
- Italian Special: ham, salami, provolone, fresh veggies, and Italian dressing
- South Philly Special: steak or chicken with sautéed peppers, onions, and provolone
- Tuna Melt, Chicken Bacon Ranch, and Big BLT: warm, filling, and dependable
- Grilled Chicken & Spinach Caprese: blackened chicken, spinach, roasted tomato, and fresh mozzarella with balsamic
- Chicken Caesar Wrap: chicken, crisp romaine, and creamy Caesar dressing in a soft tortilla
House-made tuna, chicken, egg, and whitefish salads are all available on a bagel, along with Nova Norwegian Smoked Salmon with cream cheese, tomato, onion, and capers.
Sides, sweets, and coffee
- Sides: home fries, bacon, a side of egg, bagel chips made from our own bagels, potato salad, potato chips, and lox by the pound
- Sweets: cinnamon rolls, fresh muffins, and the cookie of the day
- Drinks: hot coffee, specialty iced coffee, hot or iced tea, orange juice, apple juice, milk, V8, Coca-Cola, and bottled water
