Tamiami

For about 20 years, Sarasota knew this shop as Lox & Egg Bagel Company. The sign says Buddy’s now, but the bagels are still baked fresh every morning, and many of the original Lox & Egg recipes are still on the menu. Stop in on your way to work, meet a friend for lunch, or grab a table in our eat-in area.

Formerly Lox & Egg Bagel Company

Same shop, new name

When the longtime owners of Lox & Egg were ready to retire in 2023, they sat down with the Koffman family and worked out the sale on a napkin. We kept the Lox & Egg name for a while because we knew how much it meant to this town. In 2024, Hurricane Helene took down the old sign, and it felt like the right time to make the change. Every store is now Buddy’s Bagels, named after Buddy Koffman, but the menu you grew up with came along too.

What to order

  • The classics: A warm bagel with plain or scallion cream cheese, or The New Yorker Bagel with bacon, eggs, and American Cheese
  • Breakfast: Taylor Ham, Egg & Cheese, the Double Brooklyn, or a chorizo breakfast burrito with homemade salsa, and a few other great choices.
  • Lunch: Empire State Corned Beef, the Italian Special, whitefish salad, or the South Philly Special, just to make a few.
  • Take home: Lox, meat and cream cheese by the pound, a baker’s dozen, stuffed cabbage, potato Latkas, and many more market offerings.
